Victory for Davide Gozzini in Supermoto World Championship
July 2008–Never before has a victory been so highly desired. After his big fall in Spain, Davide Gozzini realized that he couldn’t afford to make any more mistakes in his races, especially with a rival as strong as French rider Adrien Chareyre close behind him. In the timed practices the “Gozzo” achieved the second best time, behind his French rival. Gozzo came back in the Superpole taking first place in the second moto.
S2: Race 1: Chareyre started in front of Davide and immediately a duel was established that kept everyone in suspense until the end of the race. Close to the end of the race, Davide was able to overtake Chareyre and win the first moto.
S2: Race 2: Davide gets an amazing jump off the line and leads the racers into the first corner with Chareyre a few spots back. Davide led the racers from the beginning of the race with his TM SMX 660F. At the end of the race, Davide said, “Today I managed to stay concentrated on my job and I won. I dedicate this victory to the whole TM Team for all of their hard work…”
In the S1 Class, Boris “Lupo” Chambon came back and fought for the podium.
S1: Race 1: You could see that Boris was hungry for the win in the first race. He started in fifth and moved up to third, behind Lazzarini and Van den Bosch. German rider Bernd Hiemer pulled past Boris in the final lap. Boris finished in fourth place behind Hiemer in the race.
S1: Race 2: Boris was forced in the middle of the racers after some contact between riders in the first corner of the race. Recovering as well as possible, Boris found himself in the tenth spot. He pushed past many of the racers throughout the race and was able to finish in fifth place. Alex Serafini finished two races, taking the 17th and 18th positions.
