Thierry van den Bosch and TM Racing are World Champions
November 16, 2009 –On November 15th in Salou, Spain, Thierry van den Bosch succeeded in obtaining his first World SuperMoto Championship with TM Racing. The 35-yearold Frenchman know as “VDB” around the racing circuit has added another World Championship title to his resume bringing his grand total to 4 riding his TM SMX 450F.
“I am very happy for this world title because it has been the most difficult for me,” said VDB. “I dedicate it to TM and 747 Motorsport Team because they believed in me even to include me in the team at the last minute when budgets were already closed. My bike and my technicians have always worked hard to give me everything I needed and for this I thank them a lot. After the collar bone injury I have suffered a lot and I arrived at the end of this GP really exhausted. Now I just want to rest while enjoying this World title in peace with my wife and my son, then I will think about the future.”
In 2009, VDB reached an agreement with the TM RACING 747 Motorsport Team, managed by Simone Girolami, only one week before the start of the International of Italy SuperMoto Championship. He won in his debut race at the World Grand Prix in Viterbo, Italy, taking the red plate leadership, keeping it until the end in Spain where it was replaced by the Golden plate of the World Champion.
VDB’s championship quest did not come without a lot of pain and suffering along with determination. He fractured his right collarbone the week before the GP of Greece and underwent a delicate surgery. A few days after the operation VDB left for Greece to be on the track and defend his position. He suffered a lot of pain, but VDB grit his teeth and took home some valuable points. This allowed him to go to Spain for the last GP with a little margin of advantage that enabled him to better manage the situation and to win his fourth World title.
Simone Girolami, Team Manager of Team 747 Motosport comments on the title won saying “It was hard but finally we did it! Throughout the weekend we worked hard to give Thierry everything he needed. Nevertheless he had problems with adherence which added to the front brake problems. When Thierry passed through the checkered flag, all the tensions melted and happiness set in as the World title immediately let us forget all the problems.”
The Spanish Grand Prix was won by French Thomas Chareyre in front of Ivan Lazzarini and Eddy Seel while van den Bosch finished twice in 5th place. But that was enough to win the Golden plate of World Champion and apply it on his factory TM SMX 450F with fuel injection.
For TM Racing, this is their second World Championship for the Italian built racing machines. They are no stranger to the podium as their line of two-and four-stroke bikes have proven themselves to be of championship quality. Bel–Ray is the official performance lubricant for TM Racing as every bike that comes off the line is filled exclusively with Bel-Ray oils and lubricated with Bel-Ray products.
