Bel-Ray Race Report - Weekend Wrap-Up
In one of the best Supercross seasons in recent memory, Bel-Ray backed Two Two Motorsports’ Chad Reed has been right in the mix and has gotten even closer in the points chase after this weekend in Jacksonville, Florida.
After setting the 9th fastest time in qualifying on the technical track, Reed rebounded to take a hard-fought second in his heat race. After series rivals Ryan Villopoto failed to qualify and James Stewart crashed on the opening lap, Reed took advantage of the situation to earn a second place on the night and a huge jump in the points standings. He is now just 7 points out of the top spot in the championship chase.
After a poor weekend in Indianapolis a week ago, the Hart and Huntington / Dodge Motorsports team of Ivan Tedesco and Chris rebounded with great finishes. After a 3rd and 7th respectively in their heat race, both Tedesco and Blose had a great main event. Tedesco finished 6th and Blose was 10th when the checkered flag waved. Based on their finishes, Tedesco sits 11th and Blose is 14th in the series’ points standings. Elite support riders, Steve Roman and Ronnie Stewart both made the cut into the night show, but both fell short of qualifying out of their heats for the 20-man main event.
Overseas, the 2011 Moto GP season got underway in Qatar. The Herve Poncharal managed Tech3 team marks Bel-Ray’s return to top-level international road racing. Both racers finished in the top 20 in the season opener, with Bradley Smith finishing in 9th and Mike DiMeglio in 19th.
Another great weekend of racing awaits team Bel-Ray next week. Watch www.belray.com for results and race reports all season long.
