BEL-RAY AND RACING ARE SYNONYMOUS

BEL-RAY'S HISTORY MOTORCYCLE LEGENDS
Bel-Ray’s Consumer Division, was founded by Kurt Kiefer, the son of the founders, in the early ‘70s.  This is where Bel-Ray’s high profile and top quality image in motorcycling began. When Kurt joined Bel-Ray after college, he developed an exciting master plan to bring Bel-Ray’s innovative lubrication technology to the top of motorcycle racing world.

The plan was genius yet simple:
  • Travel to professional motorcycle racing events
  • Work directly with the top racers and mechanics to develop high performance lubricants that would meet the extreme needs of the racing bikes and solve their specific lubrication problems.
  • Enroll these same racers and teams to endorse, advertise and promote the race winning formulas developed by Bel-Ray.

Back in the 70’s, at the start of the Bel-Ray motor- cycle division, now called Consumer, the plan was to go to the races in the now infamous “Big Blue” race van to find out firsthand what was needed from the top racers on the most demanding tracks in the world. From their feedback and our hands on experience at the track, Bel-Ray became the innovative, lubrication leader rising to the top of the motorcycle lubrication industry. Our products' quality and performance sold themselves and soon just about everyone at the track was using Bel-Ray.

Kurt criss- crossed the US and the world with a goal and a vision to implement his plan. He hit as many professional Dirt Tracks, Motocross, Road Race, Off-Road and Trials races as he could, and in the process developed close working relationships with the teams and riders. Kurt took firsthand information from the tracks back to the Bel-Ray Research and Development Laboratory where innovative formulas were developed to solve the lubrication problems of the time.Bel-Ray quickly gained respect and notoriety in the motorcycling world for its high performance racing lubricants, and soon Bel-Ray was the choice of champions and every one else at the track too.

Today we sponsor professional winning race teams, not only for the exposure and endorsement, but to stay true to our roots and keep our feet in the trenches and our hands on the new technology and development that evolve each and every year in racing. Only professional racing can test a product to its outer limits and we rely on our Bel-Ray sponsored race teams to test, test and test again our new formulas before they find their way into production. 'Championship proven' is the ultimate endorsement of our products and we can proudly state this since 1973 and most recently 2006.
